MLS Invests $261.7 Million in Mexico Integrated Production & Tech Park to Strengthen Americas Market Footprint

According to official announcements, MLS Co., Ltd., a global leader in LED packaging, has confirmed its investment of $261.7 million (approximately RMB 1.846 billion) in constructing an integrated production and technology park in the Laguna region of Durango, Mexico. This strategic move is poised to solidify the company’s market position in North and Latin America, while optimizing its global supply chain layout.

The project will be rolled out in three phases over the next five years. The first-phase workshop is scheduled to commence operations in February 2026, creating 200 local jobs initially. From 2026 to 2027, MLS will launch large-scale industrial expansion; and during 2028–2030, a high-yield engineering and R&D center will be completed. Upon full operation, the park is expected to directly employ 3,500 people and drive the agglomeration of upstream and downstream supporting enterprises, becoming a key manufacturing and export hub for MLS in the Americas.

Mexico’s unique geographical and policy advantages were pivotal to this investment decision. Bordering the U.S., the park enables land transportation delivery to American customers within a few days, significantly shortening lead times. Local advantages such as low labor and land costs, coupled with preferential energy and tax policies, further reduce operational costs. As a member of multiple free trade agreements, Mexico allows MLS to enjoy tariff exemptions under the USMCA (United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement), eliminating trade barriers for product exports to North America. Additionally, the mature local electronic manufacturing supporting system supports localized procurement of LED components, effectively mitigating logistics and supply chain risks.

This expansion builds on MLS’s existing momentum—the company’s Mexican factory had already started production by the end of Q3 2024. Against the backdrop of escalating global geopolitical uncertainties, shifting partial production capacity to Mexico helps MLS circumvent overseas market risks and enhance supply chain resilience. As the world’s top LED packaging enterprise owning two flagship brands, MLS and LEDVANCE, the investment will further consolidate its leading role in the digitalization and energy transition of the global lighting industry.

Local government officials have expressed strong support for the project. Esteban Villegas Villarreal, Governor of Durango, emphasized that the investment will bring formal employment opportunities, economic spillover effects, and technological modernization to the state, with the region’s abundant talent pool and stable energy supply providing reliable guarantees for the park’s operation. The Mayor of Gómez Palacio also noted that the city’s sound business environment fully meets MLS’s operational needs, and the project will inject strong impetus into the industrial ecosystem of the Laguna region.

Similar to MLS’s global layout strategy, synrit is also committed to the R&D and production of medical device and 3C industry non-standard automation equipment, with a focus on expanding overseas market share. By leveraging localized production and preferential trade policies, synrit aims to provide high-efficiency, customized automation solutions for global clients.
